THE SLOPES — Sking is a great past time and one we obviously love here in the state of Utah. But like any outdoor activity, skiing comes with some inherent risks. Thankfully for one woman in the French Alps, a fellow skier was paying attention.

Twenty-three-year-old Will Field was enjoying a run at Les Arcs in the French Alps when he noticed a pair of legs sticking out of the snow. "Fortuantely I had my safety kit and I shouted over another skier to help out," FIeld said.

You can see in the video something red sticking out of the snow and you soon realize it's a person. Field stops and tries to tell the trapped skier to stay calm and that he is going to dig her out. He takes out his shovel from his bag and starts removing snow. Another skier then stops and starts using their hands to remove to snow. It's a tense 2-minute video as you know the woman trapped under 2 feet of snow is running out of air. Field and the other skier dig the woman out, pull her from the snow and get her air. She's dazed and rattled, but you can also see how grateful she is.

According to the video, the female skier wasn't harmed, but she was undoubtedly nervous and scared. Keep an eye out for your fellow humans and hopefully we can be as vigilant and helpful as Field ...or we can be the receipient of someone like him.
