MISSISSIPPI — Picture this: It's raining outside, but you need to go to work. You stall as long as possible, casually making a sandwich and then rewatching your favorite episode of "The Office." Then you stroll over to your stamp collection and lovingly recall when you acquired each of these precious items.
But the time comes when you know you need to leave the house or you'll be late. Your boss has been really cracking down on that lately — the last thing you need is a lecture on being prompt.
This is a spring storm, so it's warm and muggy outside. Using your jacket as a makeshift umbrella, you make your way to the car.
A bolt of lightning suddenly hits your backyard, only a few yards from where you were just walking. Perhaps it's a sign that you shouldn't procrastinate so much?
Let this be a lesson to all of us. If it's raining outside and you don't feel like going to work, it's probably wise not to go. Just tell your boss that you saw some lightning lurking in the yard and don't want to take any chances.
