LESSONS LEARNED MOUNTAIN — I think we've all been there. That moment when we haven't listened to friends, family, parents, general surgeons or anyone else — even though it's in our best interest. That's when the universe steps in. That's when the forces of nature say, "Fine. You don't want to listen? I'm going to make you listen."
That's what the universe did to Gavin.
Gavin, whoever he is, just didn't want to listen to reason. Helmets make sense on bikes, roller skates, motorcycles and jazzy scooters. But Gavin didn't think wearing a helmet while rock climbing was important.
Not so fast, Gavin. We have some external forces that would like to have a word with you.
Some friends went climbing and Gavin apparently joined in on the fun. My assumption would be that Gavin thought rock climbing sounded like some good fun but guffawed at the idea of wearing a helmet.
While climbing, one of Gavin's friends is belaying from the ground — wearing a helmet mind you — when a big rock comes tumbling down the cliff. The rock clobbers the friend right on top of the head, but guess what? All is fine. Why? Because he has a helmet, Gavin.
As is said over and over again, if it weren't for the helmet, they would be headed to the emergency room and Gavin's fun day wouldn't be so fun anymore.
Thankfully, everyone was OK and while the universe taught Gavin a lesson, they also aren't letting him get off easy because we all know Gavin is going to hear about this until the day he dies.
Don't be a Gavin and wear a helmet.
