THE CLIFF — Seems like just about every Utah town used to have a rope swing. Whether they were at a pond, river or mountain lake, these rickety contraptions were the perfect way to spend a summer day.

After all, what's better than climbing a tree, grabbing an old rope, launching yourself off a branch and then soaring out over the water? It's basically a combination of action sports and swimming — and building all that momentum before hitting the water only adds to the anticipation.

Which rope swing is your favorite in Utah? Mine used to be the big swing down at Burraston Ponds, but I hear that it's no longer there. Sadly, many of the best rope swings have been cut down due to injury risk, property disputes and vandalism.

The rope swing in this video has some of the classic elements of many Utah swings, but takes it to a whole new level:

Sheesh! If I were to try this, I don't think I'd be able to hold onto the handle, knowing what was coming at the end of my swing into the abyss.

If you had the right equipment, would you dare go on this swing? For me, it's a hard pass.
