THE HALFTIME SHOW — Halftime shows can produce some of the most interesting things anyone will ever come across in entertainment.
Many credit its invention to Walter Lingo, the owner of a short-lived NFL franchise in the 1920s. Lingo, also an Ohio dog breeder, had his players "parade around the football field with his dogs during halftimes" for entertainment and for self-promotion, according to Ohio History Central. He also once had one of his players wrestle a bear at halftime.
Since then, many people have thrown their hats in the ring. Sometimes the most memorable halftime performances are flexes of sheer talent, other times it's because you spend the rest of the evening — and many days after — dwelling on how someone came up with their act.
As a reformed sportswriter, I've seen quite a few memorable halftime shows. No, nothing like the Super Bowl — but Usher will have his work cut out for him to top acts like Red Panda, Christian and Scooby, that guy who balances random items on his chin, or Jean's Golden Girls when he's up on stage this February.
Then there's this act from an Indiana Pacers game on Monday, which quickly won over the internet this week. The video features a dog named Swiffer who absolutely crushes a game of double Dutch with two of his furry friends helping move the jump rope.

The roar of the crowd and social media reaction say it all. "This is the greatest thing I've ever seen," one person posted.
It's safe to say Swiffer and his friends have leaped into the elite group of memorable halftime performers.
