WORLD CUP — The beautiful game just became a little more beautiful thanks to a dedicated, creative father.
A viral video — shared here by Doha News in Qatar — shows a father guiding his blind son's fingers along a diagram of a soccer field as Lionel Messi scored the opening goal for Argentina against Mexico in the World Cup group stage on Nov. 26.
"Messi!" the boy shouts, adding in Spanish, "I knew it! I knew it!"
Messi is one of the most popular athletes in the world but is especially revered in his home country of Argentina, where his efforts to help the nation reach the World Cup quarterfinals for the fourth time in five tries have once again captured the hearts and dreams of fans.
This father and son will surely be following along with the rest of Argentina when Messi and takes the field against the Netherlands on Friday at noon MST for a chance to make the semifinals in Qatar.
