THE WATER — I think sharks are incredible animals. I am fascinated by them and, let's be honest, some of that fascination has to do with my fear of them.
Maybe fear isn't the right word, but possibly healthy respect. I mean, if I actually saw a shark in the wild, my guess is that "respect" would turn into fear pretty darn quick.
But I love watching these graceful creatures as they glide through the water — as long as I'm watching from the couch as I enjoy yet another Shark Week. What I'd do if I got as close to one as this fisherman and beachgoers is probably not something I'd be proud of.
This video was captured when a huge hammerhead shark was spotted just off the shoreline and some people on the beach got to watch it glide by.
I have the utmost respect for the fisherman who starts stepping into the surf for a better look. Once he sees the size of this fish, he calmly turns around and walks out of the water. I'm assuming the monologue in his head is something to the effect of: "Nope. Nope. Nope."
Still, his calmness should be applauded. My guess is my screams would have reached the mountain tops and a cloud of dust hovering where I had just been would be slowly floating away.
This video is awesome, and I am so happy I'm watching it on my computer in my comfy chair.
