LONDON — Reality dating shows are usually just a bunch of regurgitated garbage. Whether it's "Date My Mom," "Dating in the Dark," "Temptation Island," or "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?" these shows merely add a gimmick to an already flimsy formula.
Then you watch something like "The Love Trap." Yes, it's a formulaic show. Yes, it relies on a gimmick. But if you're going to base your show on a gimmick, I think they chose an absolute winner.

The premise here is that some of the contestants are on the show to find love, while others are already in relationships and are only there for fame. I know, I know … none of the contestants is really seeking love. They're all there for fame. But let's go along with it for now.
David Birtwistle, the show's eligible bachelor, has to progress through the season and figure out which women are there for the "wrong reasons." Yep, we've heard it all before. But at least this show makes the contestants' exits hilarious. I had no idea that poor J'Harie was going to plummet through the floor after David called her out as a "love trap."
Who knows? Maybe "The Bachelor" and other long-running shows should consider adding a trapdoor. It's a simple and effective way to get rid of contestants.
