This video from a couple of months ago is sure to get some of you in tears — and if it doesn't make you cry, it will undoubtedly make you feel something.
Alecia was in foster care for many years and did not have a good experience. Her basketball coach, Daniel, was a mentor to her and recognized how unhappy she was. Daniel and his family brought Alecia in as a foster child and she became a part of the family. Apparently, Daniel and the rest of the family let her know they loved her but it was her decision if she ever wanted to officially join the family and be adopted.
Alecia decided to surprise Daniel on his birthday by asking him to adopt her. But after all this she couldn't simply just ask him, she had to go a little more elaborate.
She blindfolded her soon-to-be legal father and made him hold up hand-written signs to the camera explaining her decision. She then had him turn around and read a note she wrote. Then when he turned around again she and her new family were holding signs asking if he would adopt her.
I know I gave away the whole thing, but I don't care. I love this video, and you'll still love it even though you read what happened.
This is a small reminder that there is a lot of good in the world, and that a little kindness and a little love can take us on journeys we never thought we'd have.
