THE FEEL GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD — Look, it's not lost on any of us that 2020 has been a rough year. I don't need to lay out the big long list of madness that's been going on (and unfortunately continues). But you know what? 2020 has given us some good things, as well, and it's been my privilege to share some of them with you in my Have You Seen This? articles.
I told you about the sweetest video of a man asking his brother to be his best man, how the Phoenix Suns surprised their players with some special starting lineup announcements, and I got to share the amazing video of an otter escaping an orca by jumping onto a tour boat. Today I have another video to add to the great-things-in-2020 list.
YouTuber Canyon Chasers noticed an alert from his driveway security camera around the same time every evening. When he looked at the footage he saw that it was a little boy on a daily walk with his parents and dogs. The kiddo was on his bike and would always make a quick loop in the driveway before continuing on his way. So what did Canyon Chasers do? He decided to make the driveway a bit more exciting and drew a racetrack with sidewalk chalk. The first time the kid sees it he's a little hesitant, but then he jumps in and follows the track. There is something next-level sweet about the scene.
Every time it rained a new track would be drawn, and over time both the kid and the homeowner got better and better at it. While it's wonderful to see these two people connect without ever meeting, what is amazing is the rest of the neighborhood couldn't help but get in on the fun as well. Other kids also started trying out the track, and even a few adults gave it a shot as well.
There is good to be done everywhere we look if we're only willing to see it. 2020 may be a rough year, but because of people in this video, because of people like you and me, we can still make it a pretty great year.
