HOME — Home, which includes your kids, is where the heart is.
It’s a sweet sentiment, but we’re all fairly sure that whoever came up with that phrase didn’t pen it during social distancing, lockdown or quarantine.
Whether you live alone or with 11 other people, we’re all (hopefully) listening to our state leaders and sacrificing some of our normal routines to curb the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. For some of us that means we can telecommute, which necessarily comes with adjustments to our home routines.
If you are in this situation, and you have young kids at home, it’s a special challenge to just find quiet spots for conference calls, let alone to square away peaceful alone time.
Some parents are scheduling periods of quiet time for the whole family, but one dad uses (slightly evil) creative genius to ensure he has the time he needs to decompress.
In this video, you’ll see a dad relaxing on his couch with a book when his daughter calls out for him. That’s when he takes quick action to deploy his "couch camouflage," and it is perfection itself.
If as a mom, dad or roommate you don’t have the resources to pull off this dad’s brand of camouflage, may I suggest making a cozy spot in a closet with pillows and a flashlight or taking a nap under a bed if you find you need a little alone time.
