WASHINGTON D.C. — The internet has a new favorite dog, and it's pretty easy to see why.
A video posted to Twitter Tuesday morning shows a small dog in Washington D.C. being carried by his owner. But as the little doggo's owner takes a step, the pup moves his legs as if he's the one trotting along the sidewalk, pulling the owner along with him. That's obviously not the case, but the result is that the dog adorably looks like he's walking on air.
Twitter user Erie posted the video with the caption, "Please no one ever tell my dog that he's not actually helping."

But as it turns out, Erie's dog may be helping, just not quite in the way he intends. The video has slowly spread throughout the dog-loving corners of the internet and plenty of people responded to Erie saying they loved the video and the dog.

Erie this is the best thing on the internet today.— mindy reznik belser. (@dupreeblue) July 17, 2018

Ok so maybe he actually ~is~ helping by delighting people. https://t.co/lQzIVWkNXc— Erie (@Erie) July 18, 2018
I definitely agree. This dog may not have helped his owner get anywhere faster, but he helped make my day better. And he put a smile on a lot of people's faces; I'd call that a win. I guess there's some sort of lesson here about things not always going as planned: This dog wanted to help and gave it his all, (and the fact that there was no ground underneath did not slow him down at all). So enjoy the video, and next time things aren't quite going your way, remember this little guy and just try to help people smile instead.
