SENECA ROCKS, W. Va. — A rock climber experienced a tense moment with an intimidating-looking snake in West Virginia and captured it all on camera.
I don't have a particularly unreasonable fear of snakes in the same way I struggle with my well-documented arachnophobia. I remember holding a harmless snake when I was younger and being fascinated by its movement. I may not keep my cool, however, the way one man did when what looks to be an Eastern indigo snake — the longest native snake species in the U.S. — moves down the rocks and nearer to him.
The man experiencing the tenuous incident did a good job keeping his cool as the snake moved across the ropes and down his (eep!) leg. The best part of the video is when the climber smoothly stated, "I'm slightly more scared of snakes than I am of heights."
Luckily for him, the snake is nonvenomous.
Though the video is a few years old, it recently gained traction after being posted to Reddit.
