UNALASKA, Alaska — A nice view of Russia isn’t the only benefit of living in Alaska.
Based on her YouTube channel, Pam Aus and her cats regularly interact with wildlife visitors on their back porch, including a pair of eagles.
Aus says "Mr. and Mrs. Eagle" come to her back door regularly for “friendly visits” with her cats, Suitcase and Gizmo.
She may think they are “friendly visits,” but I’m fairly certain the eagles are waiting for the right moment to employ their exceptionally large talons to snatch the cats and take them back to the nest to feed new hatchlings. Either that or they’re doing recon on how to get Aus herself to their nest for an even bigger feast.
Whatever the reason, the visits enabled Aus to capture some super cool, up-close video of the eagles.
It’s daunting to see how big bald eagles truly are, especially the size and shape of their meat-ripping beaks. But if you don’t find their talons, beaks and stern brows alarming, wait until you get a load of the Velociraptor-like shriek one of the eagles produces about 4 feet from the camera.
Even though you may feel a little intimidated by the eagles’ evolved features, ultimately you will feel like a freer, truer American after witnessing the up-close majesty of the bald eagle.
