SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham announced Thursday, defensive end Koa Misi is "out until further notice with a back injury."

The senior defensive end, is a 2009 all-conference candidate and was named to the watch list for the Rotary Lombardi Award.

He also made the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded to the nation's best defensive player.

In 2008, Misi was named second-team all-conference after leading Utah defensive linemen with 68 total tackles. That ranked third overall.

He also recorded 8.5 tackles-for-loss and six pass breakups, which ranked third on the team.

he also led Utah with three forced fumbles, tied for the third-most in the Mountain West Conference.

In accordance with federal regulations (HIPPA), Whittingham will not divulge the specifics of injuries to Utah football players.
