LAYTON, Utah (AP) -- Two Layton police officers have received top honors for their efforts in fighting drug trafficking.

Layton Police Lieutenant Allen Swanson and detective Michael Howard have been honored.

Authorities say about two years ago, the Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force was on probation and in danger of losing federal funding.

However, police say under Lieutenant Swanson's leadership and with agents like detective Howard, NOT only is the force off probation, it has become a highly respected and productive force.
