SALT LAKE CITY -- A man accused of causing a fatal auto-pedestrian accident says police haven't done their job.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, officers say Babatunde Idowu was using a cell phone at the time of the crash that killed 76-year-old Kenneth Christensen in May. They also say Idowu was under the influence of a depressant but have not commented how that may have played a part in the crash.

The newspaper reports Idowu has sent a letter from jail saying neither the phone or the depressant were factors and that another car cut him off, forcing him to swerve and hit Christensen. He says police have not done enough to find that other car.

Police deny that accusation.
