SALT LAKE CITY -- Health officials say there are eight more confirmed cases of swine flu in Utah.

Figures released Wednesday by the Utah Department of Health bring the state's total number of confirmed cases to 80.

One of those cases was confirmed on Hill Air Force Base by the U.S. Air Force Laboratory, Brooks-City Base in San Antonio.

The Airman became ill and reported flu-like symptoms to Air Force medical professionals at Nellis AFB, near Las Vegas, Nev., on May 6 where he was assigned to temporary duty.

The Airman was treated at Nellis, and then returned to Hill AFB on Saturday after the symptoms greatly improved.

The test was confirmed Tuesday, May 12.

Military members who had close contact with the Airman have been interviewed. According to the base no one is symptomatic and all of them are beyond the incubation period of the H1N1 virus.

The Airman is being treated as an outpatient and was placed on home isolation for an additional seven days. The Airman is doing well, and medical personnel report his condition continues to improve.

Summit County has 37 confirmed cases, 27 are in the Salt Lake Valley Health Department district and Wasatch and Davis Counties have reported their first cases.

The remaining 13 cases have been reported elsewhere around the state.

The case in Davis County involves a child who attends Doxey Elementary School at 944 N. 250 West in Sunset. [CLICK HERE to read a letter sent to parents from the Davis School District]
