SANDY -- A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a late-night crash in Sandy.
Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies say he lost control of his motorcycle while riding through a residential neighborhood near 10600 South and 2300 East around midnight.
"There are a lot of winds and curves in this road," said Lt. Jason Johnson of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office. "It's not a long, straight stretch."
A passerby saw the man lying on the street with a motorcycle on top of him and called for help. Emergency crews say he suffered severe head injuries from the wreck. He was airlifted to the hospital.
Investigators say they're not sure what caused the crash but they don't believe alcohol was a factor.
They say he was not wearing a helmet.
