SALT LAKE CITY -- Can't make it to your friend or family member's birthday party? Why not have a virtual party instead.

Web sites like Facebook, MySpace and YouTube keep growing, but now more specialized sites are popping up. Usurprise!, for example, is a site dedicated to throwing online parties.

"I think it's actually a fun, crazy idea," said David Politis, president of Politis Communications. He thinks it's just another way we're turning to technology to socialize.

The sites let you share pictures, videos and well-wishes during the party, but virtual chocolate cake just isn't the same as the real thing.
