SALT LAKE CITY — A man who committed a string of robberies at 7-Elevens in Salt Lake County was sentenced Thursday to almost five years in prison.
Andrew Armani Deionte Rowe, 29, of Salt Lake City, pleaded guilty in September 2024 to four counts of federal interference with commerce by robbery.
On Sept. 12, Rowe entered a 7-Eleven at 2917 S. Highland Drive, locked the doors behind him and handed a note to the clerk, the charges state.
"The note stated something to the effect of, 'Do as I say or you will lose your life,'" according to the charges.
From Sept. 12, 2023, through September 27, 2023, four other similar robberies were reported throughout Salt Lake County with a suspect matching Rowe's description, the charges state. In some of the robberies, Rowe used a gun to threaten the store clerks, police said.
In October, detectives determined they had enough evidence to arrest Rowe based on cellphone data and physical surveillance. Police seized a black firearm from Rowe that was later determined to be "a BB gun designed to look like a Glock," the U.S. Attorney's Office for Utah said.
"No individual should feel unsafe while at work," said Acting U.S. Attorney for Utah Felice John Viti. "Mr. Rowe threatened and intimidated others for his personal gain and then repeated his criminal behavior three more times."
