SALT LAKE CITY — Baseball games have been delayed in the past by everything from rain, to an earthquake, to animals on the field. But how about a dust devil?
At a recent Little League game in Jacksonville, Florida, a batter was waiting for his pitch when a dust devil started swirling around home plate. The batter ran out of the way, but the 7-year-old catcher seemed to be paralyzed over what to do.
Fortunately, the 17-year-old umpire was quick to jump into action, pick up the boy and carry him out of the swirling dust.
After cleaning his eyes out with some water, the catcher retook his position and the game resumed.
