TV LAND — The television has been the source of much barefoot running across the house, sliding over carpets and skidding into place just in the nick of time to watch a beloved show.
My mother cheerfully recalls being in one of the first homes in her neighborhood to purchase a color television, at which point her and her four siblings would barrel through the house during commercial breaks toward the bathroom, skidding back to the family room and sailing over couches to avoid missing a single moment of Star Trek.
If you or a family member has ever been on the television, that frantic scrabbling and bouncy excitement can increase exponentially. “Look, we know them!” is such an exciting feeling.
Triple points on movement if you’re watching sports, because gosh, who can sit still while cheering on sports?
This border collie is dancing to the TV for all three reasons: she loves this show, it’s a sporting event, and she’s on it.
This good girl was excited to watch herself win the agility championship.

Her tail alone wins the gold medal for effort, but her jumping is the real star of this video. She knows her agility routine by heart and can’t help but re-create it.
According to the caption, it seems that in addition to this video winning a spot in our hearts, this dog also won her competition! Just like my mom racing through the house for Star Trek, this dog named Kirk can move at warp speed!
We’ll all be spending a lot of time in front of our TVs for the next few weeks, and I hope we can absorb a fraction of this pup’s enthusiasm for our Netflix favorites.
