SALT LAKE CITY — Christmas is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start getting your holiday gifts. If you’re looking for a unique gift, there are several quirky shops and hidden gems around Salt Lake City.

Here are seven places to shop local and get something unique:

Art at the Main ===============

If you are looking for a gift for the art enthusiast in your life, Art at the Main should be your first stop. This art store is located at the Salt Lake City Main Library, and its purpose is to sell reasonably priced art so that everyone is able to own original artwork, according to the Salt Lake Public Library website. Most of the artwork sold at Art at the Main is made by local artists.

Eborn Books ===========

The downtown bookstore is home to more than half a million books, according to its website. You can purchase new, used, and rare books — and even books that aren't in print anymore. There are also DVDs, CDs, maps, coins and stamps.

Eborn Books largest location is at 254 S. Main St. in Salt Lake City. They also have locations at the Provo Towne Centre Mall, Newgate Mall in Ogden and the Layton Hills Mall. You can check its website for inventory and location information.

Edinburgh Castle Scottish Imports =================================

This Scottish store is also located on Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City. Here you can buy anything from travel rugs, scarves, hats, ties and other unique Scottish souvenirs. Visit its website for a full list of offerings.

The Library Store at The City Library =====================================

The store inside the Salt Lake City Public Library is well-known for fun finds. Not only will you find books and other literary-inspired items, but also media like CDs and DVDs. Shopping at The Library Store also contributes to a great cause. All the proceeds of the sales at the benefit to The City Library.

The Museum Store ================

This shop is located in the Utah Museum of Fine Arts at the University of Utah. You can purchase jewelry, pottery and textiles created by artists in the Salt Lake area, according to the museum website.

The Museum Store is located in the Marcia and John Price Museum Building at 410 Campus Center Drive at the University of Utah.

Native American Trading Post ============================

The trading post offers Native American crafts, jewelry, Pendleton Woolen Mills products, music, books, herbs and more. Gifting a Native American woven blanket or herbal tea is sure to spice up your holiday shopping list.

You’ll find plenty of holiday treats here for your friends with a sweet tooth. The store sells brittles, fudge, roasted nuts and seeds, and chocolate candies.
