OGDEN — A man was killed when the utility van he was driving smashed into the back of a semitruck at an Ogden intersection Thursday morning.

The semitruck was stopped at a red light on 31st Street and Airport Road around 11 a.m. when the westbound van — which was pulling a cargo trailer — plowed into it from behind, according to Lt. Kevin Cottrell with the Ogden Police Department.

The 44-year-old driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semitruck was not hurt.

Ogden police are investigating why the driver of the van didn’t stop, Cottrell said. The name of the victim has not yet been released.

More information will be posted when it's available.
