LOGAN — NordicTrack, known for its treadmills and other exercise equipment, is getting new recognition, and it comes in the form of YouTube and Vine celebrities doing the last thing one would think to do on a treadmill: Dancing.

In December, the Utah-based fitness company owned by Icon Health and Fitness, invited online celebrities — many of them from Utah — as well as dancers from Utah State University and Dance Factory to take part in “The World’s Largest Treadmill Dance.”

The shoot took place in at the Cache Valley Fairgrounds in Logan, where producers and set designers placed 40 of NordicTrack’s new x9i Incline Trainer treadmills in one room to have a dance party of sorts.

The company brought in a total of 13 Web influencers, including, Ellie and Jared; Logan Butler; Samika; Casey Lavere; and even “Sexy Sax Man” to participate in the video.

Choreographed by Jason Celaya to the original music of Provo-based band “The Strike,” the dance was more than just synchronized moves. There was a break-dancer, ballerina, a guy on a skateboard, a man on a motorcycle, and even a dog. All made for what NordicTrack hoped would look like a good time at the gym.

This entire process has been a really fun and exciting thing to be a part of. There is so much talent here in Utah. We didn't need to go anywhere else.

And it was, according to director of social media at Icon Health and Fitness Jeremy Neff.

“This entire process has been a really fun and exciting thing to be a part of,” he said. “There is so much talent here in Utah. We didn’t need to go anywhere else.”

The video went live on YouTube Jan. 5 and already has more than 900,000 views.

“NordicTrack believes that making your health a priority can make you a happier person,” Neff said. “That’s what we want to portray in this record-breaking video.”
