RUN FOR YOUR LIFEVILLE — If “Have You Seen This?” has a recurring theme, it’s the terrifying existence of bears.
We have posted about thieving bears, creative bears and sneaky bears, with a shot of bear entertainment and bears in need to help salve their terrifying nature.
This theme has been passed down to me by previous curators and writers for HYST?, and I have not particularly shared a similar crippling fear of bears, just your average healthy respect for the dangers in nature.
But this video just might change my mind.
In an unknown wood somewhere on this planet, a man was minding his own business while taking a bike ride on a shady trail when something to his right caught his attention.
He turns to look — luckily with a GoPro camera on his head — only to see an absolutely massive bear running toward him.
As any sane person would do, he picks up the pace and pedals for his life. It’s an absolutely terrifying ordeal that plays out like a horror movie as the man periodically looks back, only to see the bear still hot on his trail.
The insanity only gets worse when the man abandons his bike after he comes across an obstacle in the trail.
I’ll leave the rest for you to watch, but I will tell you that the man was unharmed.
Many commenters on YouTube dispute the validity of the ordeal, insisting that it’s CGI. Admittedly, it very well may be. So as a non-expert that can tell you nil about the video’s authenticity, my only retort is this: If it is only CGI, animation and film studios ought to hire this man immediately for his ability to create an intense and realistic story on screen.
