BARRETOS, Brazil — We all know that Snow White, Cinderella and Dr. Doolittle can communicate with woodland creatures and various rodents and house pets, but one doesn’t expect an elderly man from Brazil to have the same skill.

At least, João Silvestrini has that skill when it comes to a hummingbird that reportedly visits him daily in his home.

Silvestrini opens the video by calling out and making clicking noises with his mouth as he looks out the window. Quicker than quick, a hummingbird not only appears at the window, but comes inside and hovers in front of Silvestrini.

The bird follows Silvestrini’s finger so that the man can show off his friend on the video, then we see why the man and the bird have become fast friends (besides Silvestrini’s obvious kindness) when Silvestrini reveals a hummingbird feeder.

The hummingbird happily chirps and uses the feeder as Silvestrini narrates and shows off his friend. At one point the bird flies out the window, but Silvestrini easily calls it back again.

This is a loose translation of what Silvestrini says:

"Come to me. Get close the camera. Let's talk. You are being filmed. He likes my finger. Thats right, come on. This is the young bird. The mother brought him to the window and left him and now he comes to the window and flies around calling me. He has been calling me for about half an hour this time. Then I uncover the feeder and he comes and eats. He will keep flying around until I come and invite him in."

(The bird leaves. Silvestrini holds up his finger.)

"Come on back and have some more."

(The bird comes back and eats a little more and flies away again.)

"All finished? OK, I will cover this and keep it here until you want to come back."
