MIDVALE, Utah (AP) -- Denmark-based engineering company FLSmidth says it's consolidating some operations in Utah.
The company opened a global minerals technology center in a new Midvale office park staffed by employees from other offices in Utah, five other states and seven countries.
FLSmidth says it works closely with the University of Utah metallurgical and mining departments. One of its biggest customers is Rio Tinto's Kennecott Utah Copper Corp.
Company President and CEO JHorgen Huno Rasmussen opened the office Wednesday at Midvale's View72 Corporate Center.
Gov. Gary Herbert's chief economic developer, Spencer P. Eccles, says that when a global leader like FLSmidth chooses Utah as its U.S. quarters, it's no accident.
