SALT LAKE CITY — April Fool's Day is either the greatest day of your life, or you're hiding in your room right now playing sick in an effort to avoid the chaos that abounds.

For journalists, we hate the day because there is nothing worse than being burned by a false report about something. Really, though, April Fool's Day is awful for anyone who has a joke played on them, all so someone else can laugh at you.

Tricks and jokes of the Internet on April Fool's Day

Although it's not fun to be on the receiving end of a joke, it's fun to look at the ones that took place today. So here goes nothing.

NBA player released

Professional athletes are in a world where they're basically assets that general managers and owners get to play around with in an effort to make their team better. Although every player knows of the possibilities of being traded or cut when they join the league, it doesn't mean it rolls off their back as if it's no big thing.

The Golden State Warriors, who are the hottest team in the NBA right now, decided to play a joke on one of their own, Festus Ezeli. One of the players, Andre Igoudala, set up the prank where Ezeli would hear a radio broadcast that he was being cut from the Warriors. Watch below to see a clip of it. The full video can be accessed on YouTube.

Redbox hiring?

In the mood for a job at Redbox? Well, you're in luck because they're hiring "Kioisk Ambassadors!" They require you to think "inside the box" and hope you know yoga. The gig wouldn't be too bad if they let you watch videos while in the kiosk.

At least Redbox is giving people a free code out of this joke.

Binge-watching made easier

Who doesn't love to binge-watch their favorite show on Netflix? Is there anything more awesome than that? Maybe, but I wouldn't know, I've been binge-watching the second season of Daredevil.

Fortunately, T-Mobile has our backs covered by announcing its new "Binge On" service. Basically, you get to live a normal life while binge-watching all your favorite shows. They even make it hands-free to make it more awesome!

Google ... oops!

Google likes their April Fool's Day pranks. They've had some doozies over the years — most of which are actually fun. This year, however, they may have crossed the line for some people.

Google released a "Gmail Mic Drop" send button, which appends a gif of a minion dressed as a queen dropping a mic. Although a funny idea, some people weren't too happy when their business email appended the minion gif. Oops!

To be fair, though, Google didn't make it the only send option. People sending the email with the gif did so knowing they were clicking a different button. Why even try that when sending a business email?

Election insurance

Look, we get there are literally ZERO options when voting for president this year. Like, ZERO! But luckily esurance.com has our back with their new "Election Insurance" policy. PHEW!

Here's the basics: move to Canada for four years, like you've been threatening for years, but still have the assurance that your home will have the appearance of someone living there. It even comes with a heartbroken, emotional teenager on the lawn trying to serenade his love interest back (teenage daughter not necessary for this option).

I'm pretty sure I've done a good enough job explaining this, but I'll let their video do the rest of the talking.

I'm just glad an insurance company is finally looking out for us Americans in need of help. They've got my business.

This are many April Fool's Day pranks, jokes and tricks out there but we can't capture them all. In the comments, tell us about your favorite April Fool's Day pranks of the day.
