SALT LAKE CITY -- Police arrested a man accused of trying to steal a woman's purse at knifepoint Saturday.
According to Salt Lake police, the victim pulled into the parking garage of her condo on 1st Avenue just after 10 p.m. When she got out of her car, 38-year-old Jason Powell approached her, pulled out a knife and tried to take her purse.
The woman fought back and suffered a cut to her hand. Officers tried to use a Taser to subdue Powell, but they weren't able to stop him from taking off.
Officers finally caught up to him a short time later. Powell was slightly injured in the ordeal and was treated at University Hospital before being booked into jail.
He faces charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, fleeing, resisting officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
