WEST VALLEY CITY -- A man arrested for stabbing his brother and another man told police the devil possessed him and told him to stab the two men.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports the 20-year-old man was hosting a part at his parents' house near 3300 West and 3900 South in West Valley City early Monday morning. He came into the room with his face painted black. He carried a large knife in each hand and apparently said, "The devil is here and he is going to kill."

Around 6:30 a.m. he slashed his brother's arm and stabbed the other man's arm, calf and groin.

Someone called police and told them the man had access to guns. A SWAT team surrounded the house for five hours. When SWAT members entered the house the suspect was gone.

Police arrested the stabbing suspect, who had been identified as Erik Bertelsen, outside a store at 3800 South and 2700 West Monday night.
