WEST VALLEY CITY -- West Valley City police caught a man who they say stabbed two people and somehow eluded a SWAT team.
Monday night, someone recognized Erik Bertelsen shopping in a grocery store near 3600 South and 2700 West and called police. Officers found Bertelsen and, after a short chase inside the store, they arrested him.
Investigators say early Monday morning Bertelsen stabbed his brother and another person during an argument at a house party near 3300 West and 3900 South. A SWAT team surrounded the house, but when they finally entered the residence Bertlesen was not inside.
He's now been booked into jail and faces two counts of attempted murder.
