(Photo: AP file)SALT LAKE CITY -- The deadline given to car dealers to file applications for Cash for Clunkers reimbursement has been extended until Tuesday, which makes Utah dealers very happy. If they don't get the deals submitted in time, they could be out thousands of dollars.

People at Willey Honda in Bountiful say they've been diligent in keeping up on their Cash for Clunkers applications. They had about a half-dozen more deals they were submitting.

"I have friends around the country at dealerships--tens if not hundreds they were trying to do," said general manager Ron Henson.

Henson says these applications have been nearly impossible to do since the cars.gov website went down.

"We had to make a deadline and say, ‘Even if you have all your documentation, if you came in right now, we wouldn't have time to get it submitted,'" Henson said.

The Larry H. Miller Group is instructing dealers to get their paperwork notarized if they can't get it submitted.

Despite these headaches, Willey Honda and Larry H. Miller officials say the Cash for Clunkers program has been very good for dealers and consumers.
