OGDEN -- The Layton Main Street bridge over Interstate 15 will be permanently closed Wednesday, Aug. 26 to allow for construction of the new South Layton Interchange.
UDOT says demolition of the bridge will begin Saturday, Aug. 29 beginning at 11 p.m. forcing all lanes of I-15 to be shut down until 4 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.
Northbound traffic traveling will detour at the Fort Lane exit, while southbound traffic will exit at Hill Field Road.
Main Street traffic should use Gentile Street to cross I-15 following the closure.
UDOT says the detour routes will be well-marked and motorists are advised to slow down, proceed with caution, and show courtesy to other drivers during this closure.
