FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) -- Homeowners in Davis County will soon have to dig deeper into the pockets That's because property taxes are going up 37 percent next year.
Last night, the Davis County Board of Commissioners approved the county's $87.7 million budget for 2007, which includes the property-tax increase.
The increase means residents will pay about $60 a year on an average home, valued at $171,000.
The tax increase is expected to bring county coffers about $7 million per year. The money will be used for the Davis County Sheriff's Office, Davis County Public Works and the county's division of Senior Services.
