WEST JORDAN -- An armed robbery in West Jordan was caught on tape Tuesday morning, and police are now searching for the suspect. They have released a few pictures in hopes someone will recognize the man and they can arrest him before he can do this again.

The man walked into the Maverik convenience store at 4000 West and 7800 South early Tuesday morning. The surveillance pictures show him walking in to the store.

Police say the robber showed the clerk a gun and then demanded money. They say the clerk did the right thing by handing it over to him.

The man was wearing a mask, so the clerk did not get a look at the man's face. But detectives hope someone will recognize something the man brought with him inside the store.

"Looking at the video, one thing that comes to mind is the multicolored bag he used to put the money in. That is a pretty unique bag; and if anybody sees that and recognizes it, please contact us," said West Jordan police Sgt. Drew Sanders.

After grabbing the money, the robber left the store and jumped over a fence. Police say no one saw a getaway car.

There is an LDS Church next door to the Maverik store, and police are asking anyone who may have seen a suspicious car parked there to give them a call at 801-840-4000.

The only description police have is the man is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and about 150 pounds.
