SALT LAKE CITY -- A worldwide push to help children being abducted in Uganda is reaching the streets of Salt Lake City.

Saturday there will be rallies all around the world trying to bring attention to children being abducted in Uganda and forced into armies.

"They abduct children between the ages of 5 and 12. The reason it's between 5 and 12 is they're still small enough to sneak in, and they're big enough to hold a gun," Carrie Earl said.

Earl has been working with groups of students at Jordan High School who raised $35,000 for the cause. She says they expect hundreds, maybe over 1,000 to march in the Salt Lake City rally.

Hundreds of high school kids around the state have signed up to take part in the rally.

They say it's to represent the kids that are taken away from their family.

The rally begins at 3 p.m. at the University of Utah's President's Circle. Participants will march to the Gallivan Plaza, where they plan to spend the night.
