Gene Kennedy and Samantha Hayes ReportingPolice aren't talking about an intense search last night in a home we've reported from before.

Last week, a man's body was found in the driveway of that Salt Lake City home. Now police have made an arrest in that case.

Crime records confirm that the victim and the suspect were in prison at the same time.

The man in custody is Doyle Smith. According to police, he's a member of a white supremacist gang called the Sons of the Aryan Culture.

Police arrested him yesterday and after an hour-long standoff in West Valley City. It was a tense situation, but finally Smith came out of his van.

He's been in and out of prison for 17 years. He was released in July, just a month after Raymond McGaughy was let out.

Prison officials suspect the two are white supremacists. Gang investigators confirm Doyle was an active member of Sons of the Aryan Culture.

Lt. Teri Sommers, Salt Lake Area Gang Project: "SAC is a local gang, founded here locally. The founder is now in federal prison."

McGaughy's body turned up on the driveway of a Salt Lake City home just last week. He had been shot in the head.

Joe Cyr/ Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "They wanted to talk to Mr. Smith because he was a person of interest. I don't know what his association was with the victim."

The house at 309 N. 900 West may be the key to answering that question. Last night we spotted detectives intensely searching the home, going through clothes, looking on the side of the house, even on the roof.

They walked away with evidence, but getting information was a challenge.

Samantha Hayes/Eyewitness News: "Sir, can you tell us at all what you were working on here tonight?"

Detective: "Nope, sorry, can't."

Before McGaughy was killed, he was inside that home talking with the homeowners. We tried talking with them last night. They were nowhere to be found.

The police were serving a sexual assault warrant last night. But we don't know whether that has anything to do with the murder.
