(Press Release)SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The Arson Task Force that has been investigating a series of arson fires in the Brigham City, UT area announces an increase in the amount of reward money. With the addition of $5,000 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and another $10,000 from Brigham City, the reward fund is now up to $15,000 for information resulting in the arrest and conviction of the person or persons setting these fires. Citizens are asked to call the Box Elder Communication Center at (435) 734-3800 or the ATF Salt Lake City Field Office at (801) 524-7000 with information.
The reward money is being offered for the 8/26/08 fire at the J.H. Bott and Sons Monument Company, 327 East 200 North, Brigham City, UT and the 11/10/08 fire at the Merrell Planing Mill Building, 547 East Forest Street, Brigham City, UT.
The Task Force reminds people that arson investigations are very complex, often taking several months to complete. Once again, we are asking for assistance from the public in helping to identify this/these fire setter(s). People from all walks of life have been convicted of arson, including professional people, public safety officials, and others.
