(KSL News) Three people were rushed to the hospital after a nasty accident on southbound I-15 in Box Elder County this afternoon.
Around 12:15 p.m., a red pickup driven by a 31-year-old man from ran into the back of a white Chevrolet Prism driven by a 22-year-old man from Layton. It happened near milepost 353.
The Utah Highway Patrol said both drivers pulled off to the side of the road and got out of their vehicles to talk about the crash. That's when a silver car slid into the men, seriously injuring them both.
The 22-year-old was the most critical. The 31-year-old was transported in serious condition. The driver of the silver car, a 37-year-old woman from Bountiful, was taken to the hospital in shock.
Because of heavy snow, helicopters could not be sent to the scene. All three were transported by ground to Ogden Regional Medical Center.
Investigators have not released the names of those involved in the accident. The UHP says the driver of the red pickup will be cited for following too close, and the driver of the silver car will likely be cited as well.
The UHP says there were over 100 crashes along the Wasatch Front today.
