SALT LAKE CITY — The first-ever chairlift speed dating event was a roaring success at Brian Head Resort on Saturday, with more than 50 participants riding together over the course of two hours.

Singles could opt in at the bottom of the Blackfoot chairlift to be paired for six-minute conversations with another rider on their way to the top.

"If there was a connection, they could continue skiing or riding together. If not, they met someone new on the next chair," the resort explained.

The event lasted from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Blackfoot chairlift wasn't the only spot where romance blossomed.

Dallas Insheiwat, from nearby St. George, took the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend, Aubrie Rammell, at the top of the Giant Steps lift.

"I chose this spot to propose because it was her favorite place in the world," Insheiwat said.

Brian Head Resort's winter lifts are open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. during the week, extending their hours from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends.
