VANCOUVER — A bomb cyclone recently hit the Pacific Northwest, bringing winds exceeding 70 mph and leaving a trail of destruction. Hundreds of thousands of people were without power after numerous trees and power lines were felled by the wind.

In the following video, a tree crashes down onto a highway amid the storm. What's remarkable is how well the drivers (and vehicles) handled it.

I mean, this seems like an incredible endorsement for Jeeps and Toyotas. The Jeep is the first vehicle impacted, and it seems to just fly right through the debris. The Toyota follows. There's a bump as it runs over the tree's trunk, and pieces of bark fly around as though the truck is driving into a wood chipper. But the vehicle just keeps moving along.

According to the video's description, the truck sustained only minor damage coming "home" from Portland on U.S. 14, says the post.

I'm happy to hear there were no injuries from this particular incident — with the kind of winds this storm brought, there were so many opportunities for real danger.
