THE FRONT ROOM — Every so often, I forget how to drive. It usually happens as I'm pulling into my garage. Even after 28 years as a licensed driver, I suddenly am unsure whether my foot is on the gas pedal or the brake. In those brief moments, it seems entirely possible that I'll somehow lose control and ram my minivan through the back wall of the garage.
Is it just me? Or does this happen to you, as well?
Fortunately, I've always managed to figure out the pedals in these situations. The woman in this video wasn't so fortunate.
I obviously wasn't there when this collision occurred, but it seems as though she was trying to drive her scooter in a house (or possibly a nail salon) in order to park it for the night. And she either mistook the throttle for the brake or she just gave it way more gas than was necessary.
Interestingly enough, the woman didn't seem too shocked by what happened. Perhaps this has happened before, based on her nonchalant attitude.
Her dog, on the other hand, wanted no part of the runaway scooter's wrath. It scrambled under a chair to hide, like any reasonable creature would. And until this woman masters the art of driving inside buildings, it might want to stay there.
