THISTLE, Utah County — A woman is dead following a crash on U.S. 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon on Thursday.

The collision occurred just after 9 a.m., when a westbound SUV crossed into the eastbound lanes and hit a FedEx box truck head-on, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cam Roden.

The driver of the SUV, a woman, died at the scene. The FedEx driver, a man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

U.S. 6 was closed in both directions, but was expected to reopen shortly, Roden said.
