ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — A deputy in Florida is being praised for his efforts to end a chase with another boat — which didn't have a driver.

On July 30, two deputies with the Pinellas County, Florida, Sheriff's Office, who are members of the department's Marine and Environmental Lands Unit, received a call from the U.S. Coast Guard to help with a runaway boat.

The wayward vessel was left without a captain or crew when the driver somehow fell off, but his boat continued at a top speed of 41 mph.

The sheriff's office recently posted body camera video of the dramatic effort by deputies to stop the boat. The deputies were able to navigate along side the speeding vessel and a deputy successfully jumped from one boat to the other and brought it to a halt.

The sheriff's office posted the video to social media along with the song "Jump" by Van Halen.
