PARK CITY — A vehicle that had been reported to police earlier in the evening for alleged excessive speeding was found crashed into a street sign early Monday.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, died shortly after being extricated from the car.
About 12:10 a.m., a Nissan Armada on state Route 224 just outside of Park City "ran off the road to the right and struck a traffic sign support pole," according to a prepared statement from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The 29-year-old man, the only occupant of the vehicle, was extricated and died a short time later, the UHP stated.
Troopers say they had been looking for the vehicle after receiving reports earlier in the evening of it traveling "at excessive speeds on Park City Main Street. Investigators are working to determine what contributed to the vehicle going off the roadway."
The man's name was not immediately released.
