MOAB — One man was killed in a crash between a Jeep and semi-truck on state Route 191 outside of Moab Wednesday night.

A 66-year-old man was driving a Jeep Wrangler about 10 p.m., when, for an unknown reason, the Jeep crossed into oncoming traffic about 23 miles north of Moab, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The Jeep struck an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Jeep was killed. His name was not immediately released pending notification of family members. A 38-year-old woman in the passenger seat of the Jeep was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. The driver of the semi was not injured, the UHP stated.

What caused the Jeep to cross into oncoming traffic remained under investigation Thursday.

Correction: An earlier version incorrectly reported the crash occurred on state Route 151 instead of state Route 191.
