TOOELE — Two adults and a 5-year-old child were hospitalized after a head-on crash on state Route 112 in Tooele Saturday afternoon, officials said.

A 20-year-old male driver in a pickup truck was heading eastbound on S.R. 112 between 500 West and 600 West in Tooele around 4 p.m. on Saturday, said Tooele City Police Sgt. Don Nelson on Sunday. The pickup truck collided head-on with a westbound car driven by a 33-year-old man with a 5-year-old passenger, Nelson said. Officers are still trying to determine which car drifted out of their lane, he added.

The 33-year-old driver was injured the worst and airlifted to a nearby hospital, but is expected to recover, Nelson said. The 20-year-old man and 5-year-old passenger had minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to a hospital as a precaution.

All three people were wearing seatbelts, according to Nelson, who believes the 33-year-old had worse injuries due to the angle of impact.

No other details were available.
