THE CAUTIOUS HALLWAY — It is truly amazing to me how much people do not pay attention when they walk. The things I've seen are really mind blowing. I’ve watched a man walk into a parked car, a woman walk straight into a swimming pool, and a teenager walk right into a stop sign.

People already had a tough time watching where they were going, and then we introduced handheld devices and things went downhill from there.

I don't know at what point in our evolutionary existence that humans became so trusting of everything surrounding us and assumed that everything and everyone would clear out of our way. But I have a bit of a spoiler alert for all of you: that is not the case.

Believe it or not, the world does not revolve around you (or me). That parked car isn't moving; that swimming pool has been there for decades; and that stop sign is literally warning you to stop or something bad will likely happen.

That's why I love the little one in this video. Twitter user @eli_097 posted this video of a toddler walking down a corridor multiple times. Each time, the little walker came across a window in the floor that looks down onto the level below. This tiny human didn't know it was a window and safe to walk across but noticed it each and every time and avoided it.

Sometimes the pint-sized walker was surprised, and it's next-level adorable when that happens, but each time the hole is avoided. I know if it were any of my kids, they would have walked over the top and never noticed a thing. Even if it had been a real hole, I'm like 99% positive they would have fallen through it.

Watch the video, get a little chuckle, and let out a few “aahs,” and then remember: If a toddler can avoid a hole in the floor, you can maybe take a moment to watch where you're going.

Yesterday's HYST?
